The Missing Link – An Intro to Our Insights
Almost two years ago, I formed Brighta Consulting with a clear mission and purpose in mind. I wanted to work on challenging resource management issues, with passionate professionals across NZ and to add value. We are now a team of three working with clients across NZ doing just that, and we thought it was time to start sharing our insights as we go.
We need to do things differently if we are going to collectively deliver on the policy aspirations that underpin New Zealand’s new regulatory environmental framework. With this collection of insights, we want to foster new ideas and build and share our knowledge with others so that we can all be on this journey together.
We have some massive challenges ahead and the solutions posed by many are going to be painful pills to swallow.
What is the right balance of national direction from central government and local led response to environmental issues?
How do we decide what to prioritise when everything feels like an urgent problem to fix?
How do we know if new policy approaches are working and what are we willing to spend to get the data that proves it?
When budgets are tight, how we do we equip regulators with the right tools?
What can planners do to ensure that compliance is the outcome and not a tacked-on afterthought?
How can we inspire a new generation of compliance officers and help build this sector as a rewarding career path?
Over time, we intend for this blog to complement our training services by providing valuable insights, tips and tricks that can help planning and compliance professionals in their day-to-day roles. We have seen the good, bad and the ugly out there and we know that with a bit of help we can get much better results across the board.
I certainly don’t have all the answers, but I get delightfully wound up trying to figure it out.
So, keep an eye out for our content and enjoy!
